About Matthew Krause
Matthew Krause has been an attorney since the year 2000 and is currently based in Charlottesville, Virginia serving clients in Virginia and North Carolina. Mr. Krause also serves as Of Counsel with the Law Office of Will M. Helixon, a worldwide military law practice with offices in the United States (Virginia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and Washington) and Europe (Germany, France, and Poland). He attended law school at Wake Forest University School of Law and holds LL.M.s from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal School (Military Law) and Georgetown University Law Center (National Security Law), and a Graduate Certificate in International Human Rights from Georgetown. He is a member of the state bars of Virginia and North Carolina and also a member of the bar of the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

Matthew Krause is a retired Army colonel spending over twenty-one years on active duty with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps with previous enlisted experience. Notable military assignments have included Staff Judge Advocate of Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly Fort Lee), Deputy Staff Judge Advocate of XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Military Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large War Crimes, Regimental Judge Advocate of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Military Defense Counsel, Senior Military Defense Counsel, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. He has served in Michigan, New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Germany, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Haiti.

Prior to military service, Mr. Krause was in private practice in North Carolina focusing on business litigation, criminal defense, and business planning. His experience spans the globe and includes work for Fortune 500 companies, hundreds of judicial proceedings in state and federal courtrooms, hundreds of administrative hearings, humanitarian relief operations, foreign policy, and military operations.
